Project Music – Teens age 13-17 -London Only (in-home)

The goal of this study is to understand teens’ motivations and habits around music discovery, artists, fandom and listening/watching/streaming.

We want to understand how these habits developed and what factors influenced them. We are conducting a research study on young people’s music/ entertainment consumption habits.

For this study,

• This will be done in FRIENDSHIP PAIRS; they don’t need to be in the same year group, but similar ages. We need your friend’s name when you apply, as we need parental permission for anyone under age 17.

·       Parents, can you please assist your teen – where appropriate – to complete the questionnaire, and some of the questions are for the parent.

Format and Dates

Teen friendship pairs aged 13-17 years old

Stage 1

• 15-minute briefing calls on Google Meet (ideally, a pair of friends join the call together) –  Briefing call £10 each
• 4-day digital diary  of music listening  – Diaries £50 each

Stage 2 

Some of the teen friendship pairs will be selected to do one of the following interview formats:

• 2hr in-home interview (at lead’s home), those aged 13-17 –Lead friend in home interview/Immersion £75.00+£25 for use of home  / Friend £75.00 (basically the friend who hosts gets £100.00)
• 2hr immersion (out of home, e.g. go to a concert, sports event, etc.) – 16-17yr olds only -£100 each (will discuss what’s feasible)
•  3 x parents interview (all parents to be available, client will choose) – 45-minute parent interviews on Google Meet – £50.00 each

PLEASE NOTE: All information is to be truthful.

• Turning up for the interview/focus group on time
• If you have lied to qualify, YOU WILL NOT BE PAID ANY INCENTIVE, and YOUR RECRUITER WILL NOT BE PAID THEIR RECRUITMENT FEE
• Any wifi issues that affect the interview may result in you receiving a reduced or no incentive
• Using a device which has not been allowed will result in a reduced or no incentive
• Conducting your interview from your car will result in no incentive
