Ethnography Research Opportunity: Navigating London We are seeking residents of the London Boroughs to participate in an in-person research study. Our researchers are visiting from the US to understand the practicalities and challenges of navigating London’s roads and pavements. Males and females aged 18+ All to live in one of the following London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham / Brent / Camden / Ealing / Greenwich / Hackney / Hammersmith and Fulham / Haringey / Islington / Kensington and Chelsea / Lambeth / Lewisham / Newham / Redbridge / Southwark / Tower Hamlets / Waltham Forest / Wandsworth / Westminster, / The City of London What is an In-Person Ethnography? An “Ethnography” is a research method where we learn by observing you in your typical environment. Instead of a standard office interview, a researcher will join you on a journey you regularly take to observe your experience and the road conditions in real time. Must do one of these activities during the research (Allow 2 hrs): Client would like to accompany you on any of the following journeys – this will recreate one of the following: § Commuting § Grocery shop § School run § Leisure trip Essential Requirements
Dates & Duration: Wednesday 4th March – Sunday 8th March 2026. The session lasts 120 minutes. Filming & Privacy: Extensive filming will take place for internal research use only. Footage will not be used for public advertising or social media. An NDA must be signed. Pre-Task: You must take 2–4 photos of “pain points” on your routes (e.g. confusing junctions or difficult turns) before the session. The Incentive (Paid via BACS within 5 working days)
Session Format & Logistics We will roughly follow this structure, meeting at a visible public landmark of your choice: Introduction (10 mins): Discussion of your travel background. The Journey (40–50 mins): A drive-along, cycle-along, or walk-along (following a cycle route where possible) Closing Chat (30–40 mins): A sit-down discussion in a public place, such as a park or quiet café. Parking & Access: For those driving, please suggest meeting spots with parking access. You will need to park for 10 minutes at the start and park fully for the final 30+ minutes.
